"I Am that I Am"
"I have, at last reached MY goal,
And solved the secret of MY soul.
I am THAT, to whom I prayed,
THAT, to whom I looked for aid.
I am THAT, whom I did seek,
I am MY own mountain peak.
I, upon creation look,
As a page from MY own book.
For I am the ONE, the many make,
Of substance, which from ME I take.
For ALL is ME, there are not two,
Creation is MYSELF, all through.
What I want, I do but see,
MY wishes flowing forth from ME.
For I am the knower, and the known,
Subject, ruler,and the throne.
The three in ONE, is but a damn,
That I did put in MY own stream,
When in a nightmare, I did dream.
That I did dream;
That I was not the only ONE,
And thus by ME, was doubt begun,Which ran it's course,'till I awoke,
And found that I, with ME did joke.
So now, that I do stand awake,
MY throne, I do surely take,
And rule MY kingdom, which is ME,
The master, through eternity."
TRANSLATION FROM AN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN TEXT CARVED INTO THE DOORWAY OF A SACRED SPACE
THE FOLLOWING POEM GETS EVEN BETTER WHEN YOU KNOW IT WAS WRITTEN BY AN EIGHT YEAR OLD AT St.JAMES SCHOOL IN THE UK.
" I am "
I am the sharpness of an eagle gliding over the tallest tower,
I am the brightness of the shinning midnight moon,
I am the deep great blue ocean crashing against the rocks,
I am the awareness of the mind,
I am the eye of every horse,
I am the seed of every flower,
I am the fiery centre of the earth,
I am the point of a needle,
I am the bravery of a hunter racing from human hunters,
I am the stillness of a wise man looking at himself in a mirror,
I am the nib of the pen writing this I am poem.
THE BOUNDLESS OCEAN
1: I am the boundless ocean.
This way and that,
The wind, blowing where it will,
Drives the ship of the world.
But I am not shaken.
2: I am the unbounded deep
In whom the waves of all the worlds
Naturally rise and fall.
But I do not rise and fall.
3: I am the infinite deep
In whom all the worlds
Appear to rise.
Beyond all forms,
Forever still.
ever so am I.
4: I am not in the world.
The world is not in me.
I am pure.
I am unbounded.
Free from attachment,
Free from desire,
Still.
Ever so am I.
5: O how beautiful!
I am awareness itself, No less.
The world is a magic show!
But in me
There is nothing to embrace,
And nothing to turn away.
Ashtavakra
From:the Heart of Awareness : A Translation of the ashtavakra gita; By Thomas Byrom
You are me and I am you.
It is obvious that we are inter-are.
You cultivate the flower in yourself so that I will be beautiful.
I transform the garbage in myself so that you do not suffer.
I support you,
You support me.
I am here to bring you peace,
You are here to bring me joy.
